Advertising and Affiliate Disclaimer

Throughout this website, there are both internal and external links to other website. Internal links on the site lead to other pages on the site, and the name of the link should in most cases be descriptive of the topic or title of the page, or on a page that contains some information about the topic.

External links are outgoing links leading to other websites. Some of these may be linking to related websites about a topic. These may be wither chosen links to sources, or when text is linked, may mean that it is leading to an external source about the topic, or the website named. At some point in a document, there may also be some links that in text explicitly state to where they lead. External links may also be in some way monetised or paid for, as well as articles. Monetised links may be paid for by a company to have on the website, and they may be wither tracked or non tracked. Tracked links may pay an affiliate commission based on clicks or sales made through the link. Affiliate commission may be either a fixed amount or a percentage of sales. Companies may either reach out and as a result have their links on the website, or it may be done through a publicly available affiliate network, or through a individual company's affiliate network. Similar products or companies may be featured, or affiliate links to the products, or the companies product may also be linked from third parties such as online retailers. If an article contains affiliate links or paid links, there will be a disclaimer at the start of the article explicitly stating that the article contains affiliate links for which the author may be compensated.

Some links on the website may also be monetised links through url shorteners such as adf.ly and shorte.st. These links will display advertisements, which a user will have to view for a set amount of time before being able to continue to the desired page. The advertisements are in no way endorsed by the website and should not be clicked as they may misdirect you, and these intermediate pages do not have the main content of the page associated with the page you are going to. To continue to the destination, wait for the timer in the top right hand of the page to reach zero, and then click the button that appears there. Compensation is received for ads viewed. In some cases disclaimers may be provided stating that the ads are monetised, and some may have alternative links that are non-monetised in conjunction with the monetised links. Most modern browsers will show the destination of a link in the bottom left corner if you hover over the link, so you can use this to see where the link leads to.

On the site there may also be advertisements, most typically between articles, breaking up articles and on sidebars. Advertisements do not indicate endorsement for a particular company or product although the website is endorsed for the ads appearing either based on views, clicks, both or based on some other system.

Some articles may also be paid for, or may be as a result of a product or service being give to me for free. In these cases, except if the product is available to the general public for free, a disclaimer will be given before the start of the article explicitly stating that the article was sponsored (paid for), or that the item/product was received for free.
